A common scam are emails pretending to be Amazon, Paypal, a bank, Geek Squad etc usually claiming you placed an order. There intent is usually to get you to call them where they will offer to refund your money and then pretent like they refunded too much and try and get you to some them cash/gift cards to fix. Please don't fall for these scams!

If you get one of these and it includes a TOLL FREE number it's possible to find out who they bought the number from and report it. Probably a good chance it was reported fraudulently so you are helping the provider out by reporting it and more importantly making it hard for them to scam others.

First you need to find out where they got the toll free number. Please make sure you KNOW the number you are going to report is being used for a scam. You don't want to mistakenly report someone that isn't a scammer.

You can look up TOLL FREE numbers using this link which I got from the FTC website. https://www.somos.com/find-toll-free-number

The link will tell you if the number is available and will also tell you which company is basically selling it. That is the company you want to contact. Many can be contacted by email or will have a support form to report a number.
